Welcome to Shirley Smith High School in East Gungahlin

It is my privilege to lead Shirley Smith High School, a warm, welcoming, and inclusive learning community where every young person is encouraged to grow, belong and thrive.

At Shirley Smith High School, we work in partnership with students, parents, carers, families, and our wider community to support every young person to achieve their potential. We value parents and carers as integral members of our school community and as important partners in their child’s education.

We believe high-quality teaching, combined with a strong sense of belonging, provides the foundation for successful learning. Our dedicated staff create engaging learning experiences that nurture curiosity, build confidence, and support the academic, social and emotional growth of every student.

Our beautiful, modern school is named after prominent activist and Wiradjuri woman Shirley Smith, also known as ‘Mum Shirl’ (born Shirley Perry).
